First time setup

I'm just setting this up, so please bear with me.

This is intended, I guess, to be a kind of photoblog (if that's the term of art) but also to be a little more discursive from time to time. Mostly, though, I'll probably stick to photography-related stuff since that's my primary reason for starting this, and a major interest of mine (though hardly my only one).

I do have an idea for a first "real" post to this blog, but I need to organise my thoughts - so more on that later.

As a quick introduction: "Hi, my name is Mike Funnell and I'm a photographer..." (Or, perhaps I merely aspire to be one). Not a professional but an amateur in the true sense: someone who does something for the love of it.

I live in a suburb of Sydney, Australia. I do ICT (Information and Communications Technology) things for a living: my day job (which involves nights and weekends way too often, though not as much now as it used to).

That's enough for now. Just to get the ball rolling, here's one of my recent photos of a fairly standard Sydney scene:
